BEDFORD – Loogootee fought off tough first sets to conquer Bedford North Lawrence 5-0 during boys high school tennis action on Tuesday afternoon.
Four of the first sets went to 5-4, but the Lions won those key points and cruised after that to remain undefeated at 8-0.
”I asked their coach who has played them the best this season, and he said we did,” BNL coach Donnie Thomas said. “If we had played like that last night (at North Daviess), we would have won.”
Jordan Wildman paced the singles sweep with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Adam Tlustek at No.1. Jalen Wildman topped Steven Graham 6-2, 6-3 at No.2, and Bryant Eckerle edged Graham Turner 6-4, 6-4 at No.3
In doubles, Luke Nonte and Peyton Bledsoe clipped Konley Woodward and Cameron Gratzer 6-4, 6-4 at No.1, while Rory Tippery and Isaac Waggner slid past Caleb Jones and Nate Pemberton 7-5, 6-0 at No.2.
The Stars (5-5) will visit Seymour on Thursday.
