NEW ALBANY – New Albany scored off a corner kick early in the first half and made that count as the Bulldogs edged Bedford North Lawrence 1-0 in boys high school soccer action on Thursday night.
Gus Dickman gathered the short corner kick and rifled home the shot from the right wing at 34:06.
“It’s frustrating to let one in that early,” BNL coach Logan Jackson said. “We played our best all year, moving the ball, just playing smart. To end in a loss isn’t fun, but it’s hard to be too upset. We were really clicking even though we didn’t come out with a win.“
The Bulldogs finished with an 11-6 edge in shots.
New Albany’s Quincy Rainey pitched the shutout in goal as the Bulldogs improved to 6-1 overall (1-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference).
The Stars (2-5, 0-2 in the HHC) will visit Evansville Christian on Saturday,
