BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence swept the singles and celebrated Senior Night with a 3-2 triumph over Salem during boys high school tennis action on Thursday.
The Stars featured four seniors in the lineup, and Adam Tlustek was the lone winner among the foursome as he posted a victory at No.1 singles.
Tlustek toppled Mason Dillon 6-2, 6-3, Steven Graham conquered Josh Burton 6-1, 6-0 at No.2 singles, and Graham Turner cruised past Sawyer Davis 6-1, 6-1 at No.3.
“Adam has been solid.” BNL coach Donnie Thomas said. “He had really good control of his shots, ran his guy left and right, and finished him off.”
The Lions took the doubles as Jacob Rose and Cameron Albertson edged BNL senior Konley Woodward and teammate Cameron Gratzer 6-4, 7-5 at No.1. Shawn Hubbard and Holden Collins stopped the new BNL senior combo of Tanner Clark and Jackson Miracle 6-3, 6-0 at No.2.
“Tanner (who was involved in a minor car accident on Thursday morning) and Jackson have been looking for the opportunity,” Thomas said. “They were all over the place, everywhere on the court, and Jackson played the net well. They just tried to hit the ball too hard.”
BNL (12-6) will host Jennings County in the first round of the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament on Monday.
