Search Continues For Missing Person In Wabash River

(TERRE HAUTE) – Indiana Conservation Officers responded to a call of a female who entered the water near Fairbanks Park.


The incident took place around 6:06 p.m. Wednesday evening when witnesses described a female had entered into the Wabash River before disappearing downstream. Indiana Conservation Officers and multiple other first responders responded to the scene and searched for several hours but were unable to locate the victim.
Indiana Conservation Officers returned to the scene this morning and began methodically searching downstream using boats equipped with sonar technology. New information provided Thursday morning suggested that the victim was possibly a male around 22 years of age.
Indiana Conservation Officers are currently continuing their investigation and will continue the search tomorrow. Terre Haute City Police Department has also opened a missing person case in regards to the potential victim.
Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, Sugar Creek Fire Department, Honey Creek Fire Department and Terre Haute City Fire Department all assisted at the initial scene.
