(BEDFORD) - Greenhill Cemetery asks those with loved ones buried in the cemetery and the public to consider donating to help with mowing this season.
Green Hill Cemetery will be taking donations in a tent at the main entrance at the cemetery Memorial Day.
Donations can also be mailed to Green Hill Cemetery Association, P.O Box 1442, Bedford, IN 47421. All checks can be made out to Greenhill Cemetery.
There are over 33 acres holding over 10,000 tombstones that need to be mowed, weed eated and have the grass clippings blown off each stone.
Last year in 2017, Greenhill Cemetery was unable to afford a groundskeeper, however it was able to secure generous donors to help fund the huge and expensive undertaking until mowing season ended. This sacred space requires 26 mowings per season in order to keep the final resting place for so many trimmed and tidy.
If donors wish, they can choose from one of the 30 sections comprising the cemetery to financially sponsor. Contact the Green Hill Cemetery Association for more information about sponsoring a particular section at this number (812) 275-5110.
